Cole was a successful independent grain merchant in the Midwest who became increasingly involved with the buying and selling of futures contracts, and developed extraordinary market skills as a result. He wrote two books: Successful Speculation, a Profitable Business (written under the pseudonym "La Marquette") and this masterpiece, Graphs and Their Application to Speculation.
