Allison is a freshman at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has always had a passion for film, but after taking a C++ class in high school, she fell in love with computer science too. She is a National and Virginia/DC Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing Winner as well as an advocate for technical women’s fair and frequent portrayal in the media. Allison has participated in many student panels, presented a FlashTalk at the 2013 National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT) Summit on How the Media can Affect Students in STEM, and presented her experience as an NCWIT winner at the 2013 National Black Data Processing Association (BDPA) Conference. In her free time, she loves to make films, analyze media, write scripts, sing in choir, and has recently taken up 3D modelling for animation.
