Alpesh Patel

Alpesh B. Patel is a barrister who now trades and invests for a living. As a barrister, Alpesh was involved in advising banks, building societies, and pension funds on financial services. He started buying stocks sixteen years ago at the age of twelve, moving on from privatization stocks to penny shares. Today he concentrates on futures, options, and stock trading, making extensive use of the internet for research and combining this with his own technical analysis systems. Alpesh also owns stocks in US, UK, French and Indian companies. Alpesh is a non-executive director and founder of several internet start-ups.

Alpesh is the author of Trading Online: A Step-by-Step Guide to CyberProfits (FT Pitman 1999), The Mind of a Trader: Lessons in Trading Strategy from the World's Leading Traders (FT Pitman 1998), and Your Questions Answered: Money, Savings and Financial Planning (Rushmere Wynne 1997). Trading Online was the Number 1 best-selling investment book on Amazon UK, and reached Number 2 on the overall best-seller list - even out-selling the Star Wars: Episode 1 book for a long while.

Alpesh has appeared on Sky Business News, CNBC Europe Squawk Box, BBC TV and Radio, as well as numerous US radio shows, to discuss trading, and has provided evidence to the UK Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade and Industry's Report on E-Commerce. He writes a column for the Financial Times and is the presenter of Money on the Net on Bloomberg TV.

Alpesh lectures on online trading, trading psychology, and technical analysis around the world and in the latter half of 1999 and the first half of 2000 had thirteen speaking engagements, including Central America, the Middle East and Australia, and a six-city tour of the UK. He also acts as consultant up to CEO level of multi-billion dollar internet content and online trading companies advising on market entry and expansion strategy, providing site content.

He is an Associate of the Society of Technical Analysts, a Colleague of the International Federation of Technical Analysts, a Member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals and a Member of the Bar Association of Commerce, Finance and Industry, and has a degree in Law from King's College, London and a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from St. Anne's College, Oxford University.
