2 p41 Instead, each time you create a new pivot table in Excel 2010, a new pivot cache is automatically created even though one might already exist for the data set being used. The side effect of this behavior is that your spreadsheet bloats with redundant data each time you create a new pivot table using the same data set.
You can work around this potential problem by employing copy and paste. That's right; by simply copying a pivot table and pasting it somewhere else, you create another pivot table, without duplicating the pivot cache. This enables you to link as many pivot tables as you want to the same pivot cache, with a negligible increase in memory and file size.
Instead, each time you create a new pivot table in Excel 2010, Excel automatically shares the pivot cache. Most of the time, this is beneficial - you can link as many pivot tables as you want to the same pivot cache, with a negligible increase in memory and file size. On the flip side, when you group one pivot table by month and year, all of the pivot tables are grouped in a similar fashion. If you want one pivot table by month and another pivot table by week, you have to force the a separate pivot cache.
You can work around this potential problem. Create the second pivot table using Alt+D followed by P. This will launch the old Pivot Table Wizard. After step 1, Excel displays a wordy message saying that you can use less memory if you click Yes. Instead, click No. Excel will create a second pivot cache for this pivot table. If your pivot table already exists, copy and paste it to a new workbook and then copy and paste back to create a second pivot cache.

2 p60 You can create your own pivot table styles. The new styles are added to the gallery, which means they are available on every new pivot table created on your computer. You can create your own pivot table styles. The new styles are added to the gallery for this workbook only. To use the custom style in another workbook, copy and temporarily paste the formatted pivot table to the other workbook. Once the pivot table has been pasted, apply the custom style to an existing pivot table in your workbook. Once applied, you can delete the temporary pivot table. 1/9/2013
