Q&A

  1. Why don't I ever use the Add or Remove Programs window's Add New Programs button to install programs?

Nobody seems to have a good answer for that! It seems as if software companies don't want to access this already-supplied installation resource. If they did, all program installations would basically require the same steps, and, you would think, users would be happier. Nevertheless, companies seem to prefer that the installation routine begin automatically when the user inserts the CD-ROM.

The drawback of this approach is that many times such an installation won't work as expected. Either the AutoPlay feature is turned off, or the user bought the program on floppy disks. (Floppy disk drives don't support the AutoPlay feature.)
