Workshop
The quiz and exercise questions are designed to test your knowledge of the material covered in this hour. The answers are in Appendix C, "Answers to Quizzes."
Quiz
-
How can an Internet connection help improve the help you get from Windows XP's Help and Support Center?
-
In what ways does the Windows XP Help and Support Center mimic an Internet Web browser?
-
What are the three ways to send an invitation for the Remote Assistance feature?
-
If you know exactly which Windows XP topic you need help with, which is the fastest way to go directly to that topic's help information?
-
True or false: Many dialog boxes provide a pop-up help for their items that do not require that you use the HSC.
Exercises
-
Read all about Windows Explorer from the Windows Start menu's HSC window. Many topics reside under the Windows Explorer entry. You'll learn a lot about Explorer by seeing what the HSC has to say about Explorer.
-
If you have a friend who also uses Windows XP and has an Internet connection, start a Remote Assistance session. Send your friend an invitation and let your friend control your computer for a while. Chat in the chat window as you do so. Perhaps let your friend play a game on your machine. Once you're finished, reverse the roles. You should understand what it's like to be on the other end so that you can help others. Ask your friend to send you an invitation, accept the electronic invitation, and do something on your friend's computer. But don't check your friend's bank statements; some friends don't like it when other friends do that.
