Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Windows XP in 24 Hours

Workshop

The quiz and exercise questions are designed to test your knowledge of the material covered in this hour. The answers are in Appendix C, "Answers to Quizzes."

Quiz

  1. How can you insert an audio CD into your computer and keep the CD from playing automatically?

  2. Where does the Windows Media Player get artist and track information for the CDs you insert?

  3. What is a skin?

  4. What is a playlist?

  5. What do you use to play video clips?

Exercises

  1. Log onto the Internet. Locate one of your most obscure CDs, perhaps one you bought at a second-hand shop that contains the best of the early 1950s Frank Sinatra titles. Almost surely, the online database of CD titles will locate that CD and download all the track information to your computer. The database is vast. Although you won't find every CD, and although the CD's information does not always match your expectations, the database is quite accurate.

  2. Search the Windows Media Player's radio section and play some stations. You have your choice of all kinds of music or talk 24 hours a day.
