1. What if my new computer has different hardware from my old one but I attempt to transfer my Windows XP settings to the new one?

   The File and Settings Transfer wizard is smart and realizes that your new computer almost certainly is different from your old one. The wizard transfers your data files and system settings but not anything that is hardware specific. In other words, your new computer's monitor might be capable of a much higher resolution than your older computer's monitor, but the wizard goes ahead and keeps the old system's settings. You can also change the settings yourself to take advantage of your new computer's more modern capabilities. The wizard's job is to transfer any customization you've performed, such as the Auto-Hide feature of your taskbar, so that you can get up and running as quickly as possible on your new computer without having to reset and customize its settings.
