Formatting a Document
You can affect the appearance of your document onscreen and on paper by changing the formatting. Formatting refers to the appearance of a document, including the font style and size, text alignment, and page layout.
You can format text before or after you type it. To format text before you type it, choose the formatting attributes and then enter the text; the formatting continues until you change it again. To format text after you type it, select the text you want to change and then apply the specific formatting changes.
Formatting Text
You can change the following text attributes to improve the appearance of your text or to set it apart from other text:
- Font Choose from Arial, Times New Roman, and so on to change the look of the text.
- Font Style Apply Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Underline, Superscript, or Subscript attributes to change the style of the text.
- Font Size Choose from 10-point, 12-point, 72-point and everything in between (or even larger) to change the size of your type for headlines, fine print, and so on. (There are about 72 points in an inch.)
To change the font, font style, or font size, follow these steps:
- Select the text to be formatted.
- Choose Format, Font from the WordPad menu bar. The Font dialog box appears (see Figure 10.2).
