Opening a Windows Application
Windows provides a Start menu from which you can perform many tasks, including starting Windows programs. To display the Start menu, click the Start button on the Windows taskbar. You can open the Help feature from the Start menu; you also can open various applications from the Start menu by choosing the Programs command. The menus you see stemming from the Programs menu will vary depending on your system setup (see Figure 6.1).
Figure 6.1 Most of your software is listed in the Programs menu. Menus cascade from the Programs menu. Click the double down arrow at the bottom of the menu to see more programs.
To open an application, follow these steps:
- Choose the Start button.
- Select Programs to display the Programs menu.
- Choose the application you want to open if it's listed on the Programs menu; alternatively, select the group containing the application you want to open and then choose the application from the submenu.
