Windows 8 was envisioned as a desktop OS capable of fighting the consumers' fling with Tablets. Now that the war is against Tablets AND PC's, can Windows 10 draw consumers to it?
Apple's iPad sales are down. Other tablet sales are down. PC sales continue to stagnate. In this world of new norms, in comes Windows 10, something everyone in the PC industry hopes will be a big win.
Yes, my Windows 10 installation was uneventful and all my 2in1 drivers were effective after the install and yes, all my odd-ball software, including the work remote access solution, works like a champ. This is the content all we bloggers are obligated to give you. But I want to give you more.
Smartphones sell like hot cakes. And many full size tablets are shrinking to fit that form factor. Surface 3 and Surface 3 Pro sales inch forward, but the cost seems to distract the buyer. Is there a sweet spot for Windows 10 and for the tablets and PC's? Maybe a sweet spot no smartphone factor device can touch?
Over the next few blogs, I'll discuss the hidden need, the unknown opportunity. I think you must agree that smartphones are a distraction, maybe a toy, for the business computing we are challenged to perform.
