Let's talk about the brand-spanking new PMI-RMP certification, shall we?

The Project Management Institute Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is one of PMI's newest certification programs. The purpose of the credential is to validate the skill set of men and women who recognize and overcome project risks.

According to the PMI Web site, the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP certification are summarized as follows:

  • bachelor's degree or global equivalent
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience
  • 3,000 hours of experience in project risk management
  • 30 contact hours of formal education in project risk management

In addition, PMI is incentivizing qualified candidates to pony up the dough for the exam (registration is handled by Prometric) by offering the first 100 candidates who register for the test by October 2008 a 50 percent discount, as well entry into one of four regional drawings for $1,000 (USD).

Interestingly, the exam registration fee for the PMI-RMP exam appears not to have been published yet by the PMI.

Hmmm. More on the PMI-RMP in a future blog post.
