In my last blog I told you about an opportunity that just slipped through my fingers. In my despair I seized upon the opportunity to take a few days off. I went golfing with my dad and brother. Sometimes you just need a vacation from the job hunt.
My brother has a group of high school friends that have gone on a golf trip together for the past four years. I went with him last year and ended up winning the tournament. So, of course, I needed to return to defend my title. I decided back in April when I lost my job that I wouldn’t go if I didn’t have a job by then. However, I changed my mind. I wanted a break. My dad was in town so I invited him to be my golf partner, and the three of us joined 25 other guys for a heck of a golf weekend.
How’d I do? Not too bad. I placed 3rd out of 28. Not bad for an unemployed guy that hadn’t had much practice. It’s ironic, you know? I’ve got all of the time in the world to play, but don’t want to spend the money. When I had plenty of money, I didn’t have the time. The only people that have the time and money to play golf when they want are the Pros!
Whether or not golf is your passion, please do take time to get away and just give your mind a rest from the grueling process of job hunting.
