I'm a big proponent of security for SQL Server. There are many parts to security, as I've explained in many of my articles and posts. But there is one area that a lot of SQL Server professionals might not be aware of - forensics.
Forensics is the science of examining evidence of a crime - only it's done after the fact. I've been looking at a new book, which you can find here: http://www.informit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0321544382 on this facinating subject. It uses an approach I really like - with heavy documentation! In fact, I'll go a bit further, and say that you should prep the documentation ahead of time, even before you find an incident. It should be something that you set up along with hardening your system.
