You know, I think that the media shares a HUGE part of the blame for the economy. They screamed "things look bad!" so much that the general public got spooked and quit spending, thinking the worst. That leads to a spiral where people don't buy what you sell, and things DO get bad.
Now of course there were other factors - that little thing about the housing meltdown (fueled by greed) and the energy spikes. I get that.
But no matter where the current downturn came from, it's certainly here now. But I'm not stressing about it. I try to do the very best job I can, and I learn new things all the time. I also try to approach my database job with "this is what I can do" rather than "I can't do all that." Just taking it one day at a time.
