Vince Averello

Jeff Schmidt has a long history in the network trenches and a worldwide reputation as a Windows 2000 security expert. As a security administrator on a college campus, Schmidt must deal with talented students attempts to hack the system. He brings this expertise to Microsoft as a consultant to Windows 2000s development. In this role, Jeff is among the consultants for the Windows 2000 systems security code and possesses expertise on the system that other authors can only obtain after release of the betas and final version of 2000.

Dave Bixler

Dave Bixler (MCSE, MCNE, PSE, CCSE) is the Technology Services Manager for one of the largest systems integrators in the United States. He has been working in the industry for the past 13 years, working on network designs, server implementations, and network management. Lately, Dave has focused on Internet technologies, including DNS and Web servers, information security, firewalls, and his company's Windows 2000 migration. Dave has also worked on a number of Macmillan books as an author, a technical editor, or a book reviewer. Dave's industry certifications include Microsoft's MCPS and MCSE, as well as Novell's CNE for NetWare versions 3.x, 4.x and IntranetWare, ECNE, and MCNE. Dave also has IBM's PSE, Check Point Software's CCSE, and 3Com's 3 Wizard Master certifications. (He takes plenty of certification tests!)

Dave lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his very patient wife Sarah, sons Marty and Nicholas, and two Keeshonds, Zeus and Arcus.

Dave Bixler

John Alumbaugh, MCSE, CNE, MCT, A+, Network+, is the principal consultant for the operating systems and collaborative solutions team for FrontWay Indianapolis, a network and eBusiness consulting company. John has 13 years of experience in the IT industry and is responsible for Windows 2000 readiness at FrontWay Indianapolis.

Glen Bergen has an extensive background in technical and IT skills, database design, and network infrastructure design. His experience includes knowledge in Unix, Novell, and Microsoft operating systems, and he has authored several books on Windows 2000. His Microsoft certifications include MSCE + Internet, MCDBA, and MCT. For the past four years, he has been employed as a Technical Instructor for PBSC Computer Training. Glen enjoys spending time walking the trails around Edmonton, Alberta, with his wife, Jen.

Damir Bersinic, an MCT, MCSE+Internet, MCDBA, and Oracle Certified DBA and Trainer, has over 17 years of industry experience working with SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Windows NT and BackOffice, and other advanced products. He has provided consulting and training on Active Directory and migrating to Windows 2000 to a number of companies. He is President and Founder of Bradley Systems Incorporated, a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider focusing on database, Internet, and system integration consulting and training. His extensive work with Windows NT and BackOffice has allowed him to provide high-level consulting and assistance to clients all over the world. He has been working in the computer industry since the mid-1980s, working on anything from paper tape readers to Windows 2000 servers. Dave has also worked on a number of New Riders books as an author, technical editor, or book reviewer. Dave's industry certifications include Microsoft's MCP and MCSE, as well as Novell's MCNE, and a number of others. Michael D. Gambill is an MCSE+I, MCT, and MCNE and works as a Senior Systems Consultant and Trainer at a Microsoft Solution Provider Partner/Certified Technical Education Center. His areas of expertise include Microsoft Exchange, Windows 2000, and Windows NT. He has over ten years of experience in the industry. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife, Dawn, and their three children, Zachary, Brandon, and Paige.

Doug Harrison is an MCSE, MCDBA, and MCNE. Doug has been working with Windows 2000 since Beta 2, and he currently works as the technical education manager at PBSC Computer Training in Toronto, Canada. Doug has been teaching Novell and Microsoft certified training for the past four years. Prior to his career in the training world, he worked as a network administrator and software developer for a consulting engineering firm. Doug currently lives in Toronto with his wife, Tracey, and their daughter, Mikayla.

Dale Holmes holds MCSE, CNE, CCNA, and Unix/C certification. He is a partner and senior technical consultant for AllNet, LLC, in Baltimore. He is an author of many certification titles, he designs and implements large-scale deployments of Microsoft and Cisco products on a daily basis, and he performs onsite technical training for IT professionals. Travis Davis is an Infrastructure Specialist at EDS in Plano, Texas. Travis specializes in the design and deployment of SMS for external EDS customers. Travis has designed and deployed in the tens of thousands of SMS seats (over 10,000 in the last year alone)! Travis is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Trainer and has taught over 200 EDS employees SMS. He was a speaker on SMS at the 1999 BackOffice Administrator Conference.

Alexander Kachur

David Gulbransen is the CEO of Vervet Logic, an XML tools development company. More than 5,000 businesses have licensed XML Pro, their XML editor, including The European Union, the Library of Congress, IBM, Prudential, Intel, Cisco Systems, New York Life, Harvard University, and Purdue University. More than 30,000 developers receive Vervet's newsletters. David has been involved with XML since before there was a standard, shipping the final version of XML Pro as XML 1.0 was made final. Jeff Schmidt

Arman Danesh is the technical manager for the official website of the Baha'i International Community. Prior to this he was the MIS manager at a university in Switzerland where he managed a network of Linux desktops and servers. Arman has written several books including Mastering Linux, 1,001 Linux Tips, Mastering ColdFusion 4, and Sams Teach Yourself JavaScript in a Week. He is currently pursuing an advanced degree in computer science in Vancouver. Gautam Das brings with him 13 years of Unix system administration experience. He is currently the systems and network administrator for the Baha'i World Centre in Israel, where Linux servers are run for Intranet services. His experience also includes several years of NT-Unix integration management.

Jeff Schmidt

Jeff Schmidt, MCSE, CISSP, is currently a Systems Developer/Engineer with The Ohio State University Department of Extension where he maintains a Windows NT based network and a variety of network services. Primary areas of expertise include systems programming, distributed systems, and computer security. Jeff has worked on Microsoft's Redmond Campus several times in the Windows NT 5.0 Distributed Services Infrastructure group in the area of network security. He is also actively involved in the formation of a Columbus InfraGard chapter (InfraGard is a partnership between local businesses, law enforcement, and the FBI's NIPC). In his spare time, Jeff has served as an independent security consultant to several organizations throughout North America and is also a frequent speaker at major events such as DevDays.

Jeff has been programming microcomputers since 1985 and has considerable experience on a variety of platforms including UNIX and Windows NT. He contributed to the Que book Using Windows NT Workstation 4.0 (ISBN: 0-789-71648-8) and is currently authoring The Windows 2000 Security Handbook (ISBN: 0-789-71999-1) to be published late in 1999.
